About LUS Fiber

We are building a fiber-fast community.

Lafayette Utilities System continues its commitment to our community's growth and progress with the creation of LUS Fiber, offering the most advanced fiber-optic technology directly to every home, business and school in the city.

Our Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) network is by far the most dynamic means to provide what we consider to be the fourth utility: communications. We promise the fastest Internet speed, crystal-clear phone service and enhanced quality and expanded cable TV, all at a significant savings over traditional services.

A bold initiative and the result of overwhelming community support, LUS Fiber will be the first municipal FTTH system serving an entire community in Louisiana and one of very few in the U.S.

Our network will stretch more than 870 miles with fiber optic cable and put Lafayette ahead of the digital curve. This powerful communications infrastructure will deliver state-of-the-art communication services directly to the point of contact in more than 57,000 homes and businesses. Better, faster and more cost- efficient communications mean improved quality of life and greater opportunities for economic development.

Triple play services - cable TV, phone and Internet - will be offered at an average of 20% less than standard prices of competitors. The network will be built in phases, and we expect to serve our first customer in early 2009. By 2011, expect the entire city to be fiber-ready.
