LAFAYETTE, La. – Jan. 6, 2009 – At the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government Council meeting held this evening Terry Huval, Director of Utilities, released additional information regarding the residential product offerings of LUS Fiber. 

LUS Fiber, the telecommunications division of Lafayette Utilities System, is bringing fiber optics, the ultimate broadband medium, directly to every home and business in the city of Lafayette.  Beginning this month LUS Fiber will start a controlled roll out of TV, Internet and Phone services over the its 100% Fiber-To-The-Home network. 
At a City-Parish Council meeting held Dec. 23 Huval unveiled information on LUS Fiber’s residential VIP (Video, Internet and Phone) Bundled Services.  This evening Huval went into greater detail regarding information on individual products.  Highlights included:
TV/Video offerings to meet the entertainment needs of customers including digital services like a unique TV Web Portal, Digital Video Recording (DVR), Video On Demand, Pay-Per-View, and an Electronic Program Guide. 
 
Internet speeds that are lightning-fast (up to 50 Mbps upload & download) and features that include access to LUS Fiber’s 100 Mbps Peer-to-Peer Community Intranet; up to 7 email accounts; webmail access with personal calendaring, IM capabilities and file sharing; 70 MB of personal web space; and a security suite with virus protection, spam filter, pop-up blocker and more.   
 
Phone service that brings value back to landlines including a wide array of features like 3-Way Calling, Voicemail and Caller ID; an unlimited long distance calling plan; and budget-friendly International long distance rates like 5¢ per minute to places like France, Spain and Canada. 
Huval also announced that LUS Fiber has made every effort to make it easy for customers to switch service providers. “I feel that we have put together a product mix that will benefit our customers and we want to ensure that it is easy for them to take advantage of what we have to offer,” Huval said.  “We will not require a deposit and customers will not have to sign a contract.  We are also offering standard installations at no charge.”
Huval finished his presentation detailing next steps of the project including the continuation of assembling resources to provide services and finalizing specific channel lineup assignments.  Information will continue to be released as it is available.  Customers can call 99-FIBER (993-4237) or visit LUSFIBER.com for information about the new product offerings or to sign-up for updates.
